World Cup 2006

The TV show 'Sport Center World Cup'06' of the channel La Sexta, which is the only one that broadcasts the World Cup in Spain, uses a DISPLAX™ to analyse the championship's games.

For a month, from June 9th to July 9th, 32 countries, during 64 games, fight for the trophy of the World Cup 2006, in Germany.

The 12 stadiums in which the games will take place have a total capacity of 623 thousand supporters. However, this number represents only 1% of football fans. With an audience of 30 billion people in more than 200 nations, 99.9 per cent of football fans watch the games on TV at home or in coffee shops.

Therefore, the World Cup is a true television event.

Every four years, the World Cup fever invades the planet and its TV broadcasting breaks the records achieved in the previous competition. The audience number of this World Cup will be 64 times higher than those of the last competition, which was held in Japan in 2002.

The Spanish canal La Sexta, taking into consideration the ratios, the importance and everything what the Championship puts into motion, decided to give another dimension to the covering of the event with the introduction of a DISPLAX™, in the program Sport Center World Cup'06.

The interactive LCD has 61 counts, an unusually great size. It is able to present the players' report; to simulate potentials plays; to define strategies; to analyse plays and players; etc. Concluding, an infinite number of applications related to the games of the World Cup, always through the touch of a finger, which means that interactivity is always present.

The fans, the commentators, and the TV station itself are thrilled about the results. The Sport Center World Cup'06 is a daily programme of La Sexta, which is broadcasted at 1 p.m. (noon in Portugal), thought exclusively for the championship. In each edition, it counts on the presence of some famous guests. For all of this, it is a programme with some prominence in Spain.
